Teens (13-19)

A place to move, grow and feel part of the community

Our Teen Memberships are designed to help young people build confidence, stay active and enjoy being part of their local health and wellbeing hub.

Whether they’re looking to get stronger, try something new or simply spend more time being active, there’s something for everyone.

Life Leisure Teen members get gym access to all eight hubs, free public swimming at our five pools across Stockport, and a choice of group exercise classes for just £31.00 per month.

Members on a Teen package can book age-appropriate group exercise classes before 5.00pm Monday-Friday and any time on Saturday and Sunday. Members aged 13-18 on standard Hub packages, or pay-as-you-go options, can access classes at any time, but age guidelines still apply.

Getting Started Safely

We’re here to encourage and support young people in being active, but it’s vital that it’s done safely. This is where our gym team comes in.

All gym members under the age of 16 must complete an induction before they can use the gym. It doesn’t take long, but it means that they’ll have the confidence to use the equipment properly, explore the gym and get the most out of their workout.

Under-16s must complete a Teen induction, but we highly recommend that all gym members make use of our free Get Started appointments available to them.

Creating safe spaces

Exercising safely doesn’t end with knowing how to squat with great form. We expect members to recognise what behaviour is safe, not just for themselves, but for others around them.

Here are a few simple ways we can all keep things positive and safe for everyone in the gym:

  • Share the equipment – We all want a great workout, so take turns and be fair.
  • Be mindful of time – If it’s busy, try not to spend too long on one piece of kit.
  • Avoid crowding – It’s great to train with friends, but big groups can make spaces feel cramped and intimidating to some.
  • Keep noise down – We love a laugh as much as the next person, but remember those around you focusing on their own goals.
  • Respect everyone – We’re all here for different reasons. Let’s support each other.

Group exercise classes aren’t just for Zumba-loving mums or HYROX enthusiasts. Teens are more than welcome to join in our classes; in fact, we encourage it!

There are a few safety measures in place to keep young people safe in our studios, so the following classes are available for those under 18:

R Time Stckport

R Time Stockport is all about giving young people more opportunities to get active, have fun and connect with their local community.

Funded by the National Lottery, R Time provides free activities, events and support for young people across Stockport, helping them try new things, meet new people and have their say on what matters to them.

It’s about creating positive experiences, building confidence and helping young people feel connected to their community.
