Stockport Sports Village FAQs

What is happening?

With effect from 1st April 2026, the lease held by Life Leisure to operate Stockport Sports Village will terminate. From 1st April, responsibility for the operation of community football lettings will transfer to Stockport County. However, as a result of this transfer, the fitness provision at Stockport Sports Village including the gym, H1VE, and studio classes, will cease to operate.

Why are the fitness areas closing?

The facility is owned by Stockport Council, who have been reviewing its long term future and considering the aspirations of Stockport County to expand its educational and Academy programmes. The fitness areas will be re-developed to facilitate that expansion and Stockport Council will be expanding the fitness provision at nearby Life Leisure Romiley as well as opening a brand new fitness and swimming facility in Marple later in 2026.

Can I use other Life Leisure facilities across Stockport?

Yes – your membership is still valid. Life Leisure continues to operate 7 other Hubs across Stockport, and we want you to continue to enjoy those benefits and maintain your commitment to being active. To alter any aspects of your membership, please contact our Customer Success Team.

What is the final day of fitness operations?

The final day of operation for the gym, H1VE, and studio classes will be Tuesday 31st March 2026, with normal opening hours continuing up to this date.

What is happening to community football and facility rentals?

Life Leisure will continue to run the football until the 31st March. The last direct debit payment will be collected on 8th March 2026. The community football provision will continue and be operated by Stockport County, and all bookings will be processed through the team at Stockport County Community Trust. The contact email address will be bookings@stockportcounty.com. This includes questions relating to Football, Café, Therapy rooms, Bowling and Tennis provision as from 1st April.

What if I have paid for an annual membership?

If you have made payment for an annual health and wellbeing membership and do not wish to continue with access to other Life Leisure Hubs, you may request a refund for the remaining months of your membership. This can be requested through customersuccess@lifeleisure.net.

Can I still purchase a membership?

We will continue to sell membership online and in Hub and we will advise on the description found online when purchasing that SSV will no longer be in operation after 31st March 2026. If you purchase a membership from Sunday 1st February and do not wish to transfer to another Life Leisure Hub, we will accept a cancellation request effective 31st March 2026 emailed to customersuccess@lifeleisure.net
