Women’s guide to a great Galentines in Stockport

February isn’t just about romantic love. It’s important to also celebrate friendships, self-love, and community connection. With ‘Galentine’s Day’ growing in popularity, more women are choosing to invest in themselves and their friendships by trying new activities, meeting like-minded women, and building supportive communities.

If you’re looking to make new friends, get active, or simply try something different this year, Stockport and Manchester are home to some amazing female-led social groups that make it easier (and more fun) to put yourself out there.

In no particular order, here are three brilliant communities to check out this February:

  1. Hot Girl Hiker Club @hotgrlhikerclub

If you love fresh air, beautiful views, and good company, this one’s for you.

This female-only hiking community is open to women aged 18–39 and is all about making the outdoors more accessible, social, and empowering. Whether you’re an experienced walker or just starting out, the group focuses on creating a supportive environment where everyone feels welcome.

As well as group hikes in some stunning locations, they also run social meet-ups, group trips and travel, wellness retreats, and fitness sessions.

Hot Girl Hiker Club is about more than just walking. It’s about building friendships, improving your fitness, and feeling strong both physically and mentally. It’s perfect if you want to explore beautiful local outdoor spaces while meeting new people who share similar goals.

  1. Amore Wellness @amorewellnessmcr

Amore Wellness is a women’s wellness community focused on bringing joy, connection, and balance back into movement.

The group was created to remind women that being active doesn’t have to mean intense workouts or strict routines. Instead, Amore Wellness celebrates movement that feels joyful, gentle, social, and empowering.

Elisha, founder of Amore Wellness, explains:

“Amore Wellness is a community built around bringing the fun and social aspects back into movement. As women in our community, we encourage, inspire, and educate one another while supporting our overall wellbeing.”

They’re always offering fun events such as:

  • Social runs and walks
  • Group hikes
  • Craft sessions
  • Wellness days
  • Ladies-only social events
  • Community meet-ups

At the heart of Amore Wellness is a passion for supporting women and creating a space where everyone feels connected and valued. It’s ideal if you’re looking for a balanced approach to wellbeing that combines movement, creativity, and friendship.

  1. Manchester & Stockport Gals @manchesterstockportgals

If you’re new to the area, feeling a bit stuck socially, or simply want to widen your circle, Manchester & Stockport Gals offers a welcoming space to do just that.

This community is all about helping women meet new friends through relaxed, fun, and varied activities. There’s no pressure to be super sporty or outgoing, just a willingness to turn up and give something new a try.

They do tones of stuff together like catch-ups over a coffee, group walks, craft afternoons,  fitness sessions, social events and even local nights out!

With a mix of active and social meet-ups, this group is perfect if you want flexibility and variety while building genuine friendships.

Feeling nervous about meeting new people?

Joining a social group can feel daunting at first, but the benefits go far beyond filling your diary. Being part of a supportive community can help you build confidence, improve your mental wellbeing, allow you to try new hobbies, and create lasting friendships.

Just take a look at any of the groups social pages and you’ll see how fun, welcoming and vibrant their communities are.

Ready to try something new?

Whether you’re hiking hills, crafting with friends, enjoying wellness days, or meeting for coffee, these groups prove that there’s no “right” way to be social or active.

All three communities are doing incredible work to bring women together across Stockport and Manchester, and there’s never been a better time to get involved.

Next month brings us International Women’s Day, and you definitely don’t want to miss what these groups will have lined up.

Follow them on TikTok and Instagram to see upcoming events and find the right fit for you. You can also drop them a message; they’d be more than happy to chat and ease any worries you have.
