How to make the most of your membership

Joining a gym is a huge step toward improving your health and wellbeing, but we know it can also feel overwhelming at first. Whether you’re unsure where to start, what equipment to use, or how to build a workout routine that works for you, the good news is that you don’t have to navigate this journey on your own! At Life Leisure, we’ve got a team of expert Fitness Coaches ready to support you every step of the way.

Fitness Coaches aren’t just there to lead you through exercises—they’re your partners in success. Whether you’re a complete beginner, returning to the gym after a break, or looking to take your workouts to the next level, their knowledge and experience can make a huge difference. With their help, you can achieve your goals safely, efficiently, and with confidence.

Why you should bite the bullet and ask for help:

  1. Get personalised support tailored to your goals: Everyone is unique, and what works for one person might not work for another. A Fitness Coach can help you set realistic goals based on your individual needs and preferences. By getting to know you, they can create a plan that fits your lifestyle, making sure it’s something you can stick to long term. With a personalised approach, you won’t waste time on ineffective exercises or routines that don’t suit you. Your coach will guide you toward a clear path to success, adjusting the plan as you progress.
  2. Build confidence and master the equipment: One of the biggest challenges for many gym-goers is simply figuring out how to use the equipment. If you’ve ever felt uncertain or intimidated by unfamiliar machines or exercises, you’re not alone. But with a Fitness Coach by your side, you can say goodbye to the guesswork and feel confident using all of the gym’s facilities. By scheduling a gym orientation with a professional, you’ll receive hands-on training on how to use each piece of equipment safely and correctly. This not only boosts your confidence, but it also ensures you’re working out with proper form, which reduces the risk of injury and maximises the benefits of your workouts.
  3. See results faster with expert guidance: Everyone wants to see progress, but getting the most out of your gym time requires knowing which exercises are best for your goals and how to perform them correctly. Fitness Coaches can teach you proper form, show you effective exercises, and help you avoid common mistakes that could hold back your progress. With their guidance, you’ll not only avoid wasting time on ineffective workouts, but you’ll also be able to see real results more quickly. Whether your goal is to build strength, lose weight, or improve overall fitness, having expert support can accelerate your progress and keep you motivated.

 ‘Get Started’

If you’re new to the gym or feeling a bit unsure about how to use the facilities, our Get Started programme is the perfect place to begin. The various session options in this programme are all designed to meet your individual needs and are included in your Life Leisure gym membership.* Depending on what it is you want from your orientation, our Fitness Coaches will walk you through the gym, show you how to use the equipment properly, complete a full body scan and help you create a routine that you’ll be excited to follow. Each option in the programme ensures you get off to the best possible start, setting you up for long-term success. The options are:

  1. Quick Start: A small group induction (maximum eight people) providing an overview of the gym and a quick walkthrough of each piece of equipment. There will be an opportunity to complete a short workout and ask our Fitness Coaches any questions on how you can get the best out of your visits. You’ll also be given advice on how to incorporate functional and strength training into your routine. This option is perfect for those people who have a plan in mind but just need some help with how to operate certain pieces of equipment. This is also the best option if you’d prefer to come along with a friend.
  2. Kick Start: A 1-1 orientation with a personalised gym programme, exercise planner and habit tracker, boosting the chances that your first few weeks will turn into a lifetime of love for health and wellbeing. This is your chance to chat about your individual goals and get expert advice from our qualified coaches on how to overcome any barriers you may face. Together you will agree on your personalised weekly exercise planner, any positive lifestyle habits you would like to include, and go over your gym programme. This option can also be used by members who mostly take part in group exercise classes and want to create some sort of structure to their week.
  3. Health Start: Take one step further and hop onto the Boditrax machine for a body scan and wellbeing analysis to gain quick, non-invasive body stat measurements. The assessment findings can then be used to develop a personalised programme with step-by-step targets based around your goals and lifestyle, and also show quantifiable progress of any health and wellness programme you may be following over time. You’ll get a free Boditrax account so you can login and view your health measurements, set goals and track progress online.  Our Fitness Coaches will also chat about your individual goals and recommend next steps for your journey.

Looking for extra guidance? Try Personal Training!

Option number four of the Get Started programme is Jump Start: Our introduction to personal training.

If you’re ready for something more, this introductory package is a great option. For just £52.00, you’ll receive three 1-1 sessions with one of our experienced in-house trainers. Personal Training is ideal if you want more focused attention, need help with specific exercises, or want to set ambitious goals and achieve them with professional support.
