New kit has members head over heels

We are super excited to introduce GL1DE – an innovative new group of studio classes which will see members utilising their bodyweight to increase resistance on special machines, giving a unique and dynamic workout.

Most pieces of gym equipment increase resistance by the addition of heavier plates and weights, but the six new pieces of equipment used in GL1DE classes simply require the change of the incline – tipping your weight further in different directions to progressively add resistance to the muscles you are working out.

The unique set up means the equipment is also more accessible for people who struggle with high impact circuit training, whilst elevating the experience for users who want to push themselves further than ever.

The new pieces of incline-based equipment have been set up in a dedicated studio at our Grand Central hub, where an instructor guides members through the equipment in three different classes – GL1DE Strength, GL1DE Sweat and GL1DE Core, each tailored to specific goals.

Here’s a quick look at what each piece of equipment does…

Topsy-turvy

The ELEVATE Press could be the first step in helping you achieve a full push up, or taking your push ups to the next level and helping you work towards an impressive decline press up.

It does this by placing users in an inverted position for the shoulder press. With seven adjustable levels, you can alter the percentage of bodyweight to reduce or add resistance.

The advantage of the inverted position also means that the shoulder girdle is stabilised, reducing spinal compression and shoulder impingement.

Jump to it!

Designed for plyometric movements – aerobic exercises that increase speed, endurance and strength – ELEVATE Jump helps build explosive power and develop lower body muscle mass with two primary movements, the squat and the squat jump.

It leverages both linear bodyweight resistance and band variable resistance, allowing users to accelerate and decelerate quickly during a squat jump in a safe, controlled manner, and is suitable for all levels of fitness.

An additional benefit is that it supports the spine during traditional squat exercises allowing you to comfortably control the descending and ascending phases of the squat.

And if you want to take it a step further, there are plenty of advanced variations including single-leg squats and staggered stance squats.

Gently does it

Think you’ve tried rowing? Then give the ELEVATE Row a go. It has two independent moving platforms which allow you to pull at your own pace, at your own level and height, and with a consistent load on the pull and return. It adapts to all body sizes, producing very low compression on the joints, especially the lower back.

It will strengthen all muscle groups simultaneously while giving you a great cardiovascular workout in a totally different way to train your body.

Power-up

Encompass is a standalone piece of equipment similar to Pilates equipment which comes with an adjustable glide board promoting optimal spinal alignment and training variations.

Automatic rail locks allow for explosive plyometric jumping, and multiple centre-pulley attachment positions can double the weight on the arms while increasing lower extremity range of motion.

Raise the plank

The ELEVATE Adjustable Core strengthens the abdominals while engaging the entire core.

For those who want to take their planking to the next level, this machine allows for two primary movements, the Dynamic Plank and the scrunch – when your knees are pulled up to your chest. Simple, intuitive, and accommodating all fitness levels, it helps enhance basic core stability for beginners while providing advanced strengthening and increased core muscle recruitment to challenge conditioned athletes.

Push and pull

The ELEVATE Pull-up can be the vital step in working towards your first pull-up, or can assist you with your pull-ups by adjusting the incline, allowing the user to lift approximately 30 – 60 percent of their bodyweight. It’s built on an adjustable incline with seven levels to select from, strengthening all the muscles of the upper body.

What are you waiting for?

So, whether it’s a case of helping you finally get into a decline push up, or you’d like to ease yourself in on the rowing machine without reaching forward, there’s a lot to choose from with GL1DE.

The GL1DE studio is inspired by our group personal training studio H1VE, a boutique gym which uses modern equipment and technology such as MyZone, which utilises heart rate monitoring to guide your experience.

The classes have proven extremely popular since opening it’s doors, so come on down and give it a try for yourself!

GL1DE is class access is membership package dependent. You can find out more about the classes and the rest of the H1VE group training family here.
