Glow with confidence, in and out of the gym

Weightlifting isn’t new, but the appeal to women has changed for the better over the years. While many women used to avoid the weights section out of fear of getting “too bulky”, lots of women all over the world now embrace it as a vital part of their health and wellbeing routine. Whether you want to feel powerful, improve your health, or simply challenge yourself, lifting weights has something to offer every woman.

The benefits of weightlifting for women

Weightlifting offers so much more than a toned physique. Here’s why women everywhere are embracing it:

  1. Bone health and osteoporosis prevention

According to the NHS and National Osteoporosis Foundation, women are at a higher risk of osteoporosis, especially post-menopause, due to lower bone density and hormonal changes.

Resistance training strengthens bones and improves bone density, helping reduce the risk of fractures later in life.

  1. Hormonal balance and metabolism

Resistance training helps support hormone balance by stimulating muscle and fat tissue, which in turn helps regulate hormones that influence energy, mood, and body composition. It also builds muscle, helping to keep metabolism strong, something that’s especially important as women’s metabolic rate tends to decline faster than men’s with age.

  1. Posture and core strength

Women often carry more weight in the hips and lower body, which can affect posture and back health. Weightlifting strengthens core and back muscles, improving posture, reducing back pain, and supporting everyday movement.

  1. Mental wellbeing and confidence

Studies suggest women often experience greater improvements in confidence and body image from weightlifting compared with cardio-focused training alone.

Lifting weights helps women see and feel what their bodies are capable of, focusing on strength and ability rather than just appearance. This translates into increased self-esteem, a stronger sense of control over your body, and a more positive relationship with exercise overall.

Including resistance training in your routine can have a real impact on everyday life. Building strength makes daily tasks easier, from lifting shopping bags and carrying children to climbing stairs or moving furniture. Beyond practicality, it helps you work toward your personal fitness goals, whether that’s improving endurance, building muscle, or simply feeling more confident in your own body. It’s hard to achieve those things by doing endless hours of cardio, and much less fun too!

Empowering the next gen of strong women

Weightlifting is no longer just a workout, it’s a movement that’s empowering women to discover their strength, resilience, and confidence. Across the world, women are smashing records, challenging expectations, and proving that strength knows no gender.

From Olympic champions like Laurel Hubbard and Hidilyn Diaz, to rising stars in powerlifting and CrossFit, women are showing that weightlifting is about power, skill, and self-belief.

Closer to home, more female-focused gym classes and communities are helping beginners step into the gym with confidence, learn proper technique, and celebrate their progress alongside like-minded women.
